From Plant Floor to AI-Ready: Automotive OEE, Sensors & Data Pipelines
Session Date: Sep 02, 2026
Time: 8:00am (PT) | 3:00pm (GMT) | 4:00pm (BST)
Automotive plants generate a flood of telemetry (PLCs, torque tools, robots, test stands), but most of it never leaves the historian where it was collected. Per-tag pricing punishes every new sensor, and process data stays locked in plant-level silos, which means OEE dashboards run a day behind and quality investigations drag while engineers chase data across systems that don’t talk to each other.
In this session, we will show a live data pipeline: connecting PLC and sensor sources with Telegraf, writing that data into InfluxDB, querying it with SQL, and visualizing OEE trends in Grafana as the data lands, without disrupting the historian already running the plant floor.
What we will cover:
- Collect and centralize telemetry from PLCs and sensors into a single pipeline
- Build real-time OEE visibility at the line, station, and shift level
- Extend the same data foundation toward predictive maintenance and digital twin use cases
- Decide where historian augmentation makes sense versus full replacement
