Commonwealth Financial Network needed to monitor firewall metrics in real time. Some metrics, like CPU, help identify issues not related to traffic volume, like half-duplex mismatch errors. To monitor its firewall, the company wrote a Node.js app to run inside a Docker container using Sensu to collect metrics and InfluxDB to store them.
