InfluxDB began implementation efforts with Nortal in fall 2019 to produce a deployment on Google Cloud (GCP) of their Cloud 2.0 SaaS product using their existing implementation on Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a baseline. The effort was aimed at providing expertise to InfluxDB in transitioning the optimal amount of features from the pilot to production deployment. The Nortal team successfully implemented InfluxDB on GCP using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Working to build the infrastructure, installing InfluxDB services and resources using Kubernetes, and discovering what can be removed from the current AWS implementation, presented a balancing act to properly structure the movement of GKE resources and services in order to be successful.
