Company to Extend Time Series Analytics of Metrics and Events Across Cloud Foundry Foundation Ecosystem

SAN FRANCISCO - Oct. 31, 2017 - InfluxData, the modern Open Source Platform built specifically for metrics and events that empowers developers to build next-generation monitoring, analytics and IoT applications, today announced that it has joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications. InfluxData joins BNY Mellon, CA Technologies, Comcast, Fidelity, Fujitsu, Hitachi, HPE, Intel, and many others as a Foundation Silver member. The company aims to bring time series analytics of metrics and events to the forefront of the cloud native discussion as its growth extends across the Cloud Foundry ecosystem.

“We are excited to join the Cloud Foundry Foundation and add our voice to its impressive membership,” said Brian Mullen, VP Business Development at InfluxData. “We’re thrilled to lend our expertise and help the industry move quickly to cloud native architecture. We share a common goal of helping developers build applications faster, easier and to scale in today’s cloud native environment.”

InfluxData has been involved with many Foundation vendors and is an increasingly active contributor at Foundation events. Joining the Foundation underscores InfluxData’s commitment to communities and open source to solve real business problems faster for customers. InfluxData provides a purpose-built platform for analyzing and acting on any time based data – from humans, sensors, or machines – seamlessly collecting, storing, visualizing, and turning insight into action. Platforms such as InfluxData are critical to any cloud-native application, providing the metrics and observability platform for better business outcomes.

“InfluxData has been a great contributor to the open source community for many years and is a perfect addition to the Foundation,” said Abby Kearns, Executive Director, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “They continue to revolutionize the way metrics and events are collected and stored in a time series database – something that many users rely on when running workloads on multiple clouds for flexibility, efficiency and agility.”

As a member, InfluxData will advocate the importance of two areas. First, open source is the foundation, and the industry should continue to focus on open-source software wherever possible. Cloud native architecture is most effective and technology standards are most widely adopted when built upon an open source foundation.

Second, metrics, events, and other time-based data are being generated at an exponential rate. As a growing requirement for analyzing today’s complex metrics and events, time series applies to multiple layers of cloud native infrastructure and applications. InfluxData was built from the ground up for this purpose, and the company will contribute its extensive experience and perspective on the topic in its participation as a member of the Foundation.

The InfluxData Platform provides a comprehensive set of tools and services to accumulate metrics and events data, analyze the data, and act on the data via powerful visualizations and notifications. InfluxData’s unique features enable customers to quickly build:

  • Monitoring, alerting and notification applications supporting their DevOps initiatives
  • IoT applications supporting millions of events per second, providing new business value around predictive maintenance and real-time alerting and control
  • Real-time analytics applications that are focused on streaming data and anomaly detection

InfluxData has rapidly built its developer and customer base across industries – including manufacturing, financial services, energy, and telecommunications – by delivering the fastest growing Open Source Platform that enables customers to derive better business insights, data-driven real-time actions, and a consolidated single view of their entire infrastructure – from applications to microservices, and from systems to sensors. More than 350 customers, including Cisco, Coupa, IBM, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Nordstrom, and Tesla, have selected InfluxData as their modern data platform for metrics and events. InfluxData is pioneering the shift to time series in a modern metrics and events platform, and is making it possible for customers to become data-driven and take on digital transformation initiatives.
