HighByte

HighByte is an industrial software development company in Portland, Maine building solutions that address the data architecture and integration challenges created by Industry 4.0. We’ve developed HighByte Intelligence Hub, the first DataOps solution purpose-built to meet the unique requirements of industrial assets, products, processes & systems at the Edge.

HighByte & InfluxDB

HighByte provides a solution to easily collect, model, and distribute data on the manufacturing floor to various sources both on-premises and in the Cloud. HighByte Intelligence Hub turns raw factory data into rich contextualized information.

In turn, InfluxDB provides a premier technology to store the rich data models produced by HighByte Intelligence Hub, and allows customers to easily visualize, query, and run aggregate calculations on the data.

DataOps with HighByte

HighByte Intelligence Hub easily integrates with InfluxDB using the database’s native REST API and line protocol. To push data to InfluxDB, follow the following steps:

  1. Install HighByte Intelligence Hub on a Linux or Windows PC.
  2. Create a REST Client connection in HighByte Intelligence Hub and configure it to connect to the InfluxDB REST API.
  3. Create a flow that sends data to the REST Client connection output you created.
  4. Query InfluxDB for the data from HighByte Intelligence Hub.

Connecting HighByte Intelligence Hub & InfluxDB

HighByte Intelligence Hub is used in the factory to collect data from factory sources (e.g., OPC UA, SQL, SparkplugB, MQTT, and CSV), aggregate the data into common data models, and distribute the rich models to other systems inside and outside the factory.

HighByte Intelligence Hub users can leverage InfluxDB to store these rich data models, easily run queries and calculations on the data, and visualize the data over time.

A common use case for both HighByte and InfluxDB is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). OEE is a common calculation made in manufacturing to better understand and compare the performance of two manufacturing lines. In the OEE use case, HighByte Intelligence Hub collects and models the raw data required for the OEE calculation, stores this data in InfluxDB, and InfluxDB runs the calculations on the data. As an example, InfluxDB will calculate the amount of time a machine has been in the “running” state over the course of 24 hours.

HighByte Intelligence Hub

HighByte Intelligence Hub is the first Industrial DataOps solution designed specifically for Operations Technology teams. Purpose-built to model and manage plant floor data at the Edge and securely flow this valuable data throughout the extended enterprise.

Use case: Transform REST output to send data to InfluxDB

In this short video, HighByte CTO Aron Semle demonstrates how the new templating engine in HighByte Intelligence Hub version 1.4 allows users to transform REST outputs to send data to InfluxDB.

HighByte Testimonial

In this video, HighByte CTO Aron Semle talks abut how HighByte uses InfluxDB for industrial data collection and entity-mapping.
